A Young Journalist in a New-Media Journalism Class

I am passionate to learn about almost anything. Like a bottomless vacuum bag, I thrive to collect almost anything and never get full. This characteristic about me is why I had trouble deciding on what career I wanted to do. Every subject is interesting to me. Therefore, I picked journalism as my major because I’m a curious person, and have a wide-ranged-palette for tasty subjects.

My name is Erica Kurvach, and I’m a junior journalism major at Slippery Rock University. As a journalist, I constantly have to have a fresh motive to fetch a story. In this blog, I'll deliver breaking news. So check out my Facebook page and Twitter feed frequently.

New-media journalism is all about using the latest technologies to deliver the latest stories. The British Broadcasting Company is a new-media outlet. It covers a variety of topics and stories from around the world. BBC covers stories online, radio, podcasts, blogs and television. However, Wall Street Journal is a traditional media outlet that offers a printed version of their articles. Readers can subscribe to their papers and read about business and financial news. New-media outlets are constantly changing, and many traditional outlets are adapting to new-media outlets. Online Wall Street Journal articles can be found on their website, Twitter, and Facebook now.

I'm taking new-media journalism so that I can learn how to deliver news quickly and effectively. It is going to be challenging to experiment with "backpack journalism." All I'm going to have is a small digital video camera, a laptop, and my brains to deliver a story. I'm up for the challenge.

I am curious to see what you have to share about my posts, and let the world hear your voice.
